"Cha-La Head-Cha-La" is a song performed by Hironobu Kageyama.

About the song[]

The song was Kageyama's fifteenth single and was included in a split single CD, coupled with the song "Detekoi Tobikiri Zenkai Power!" by Manna. The split single was released under Nippon Columbia's Columbia Records label on May 1, 1999.

It was the first opening theme song of the TV anime series Dragon Ball Z, the second TV anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama's famous manga series Dragon Ball. The song covering the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Cell Saga of the anime. The song has numerous cover versions done by other artists (including the cover version by Flow that was used as the ending theme song for the 2013 anime movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.) and even has the English versions.

It was first introduced into the Taiko no Tatsujin games as an Anime-genre song with Taiko no Tatsujin 5 on the arcade side and Taiko no Tatsujin: Appare! Sandaime on the console side.

Unique to this song is that some entries in the Taiko no Tatsujin games, specifically Taiko no Tatsujin 8 through Taiko no Tatsujin 13, Taiko no Tatsujin Portable and Meccha! Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Great Adventure of the Seven Islands!, used the newly-recorded master audio performed by Kageyama, originally made for Tobikkiri! Anime Special Dai Nesshu Utamatsuri original soundtrack. Other entries in the series used the cover version.
